Expansion permits are used in conjunction with normal items that are used for expansions on Hay Day, land deeds, markers, and stakes will still be required alongside expansion permits to unlock certain areas of your farm.
Once players have obtained enough permits to unlock all of the additional areas of their farms they will not receive any more permits as rewards. This may however change if the game developers decide to unlock more areas of land to unlock in the game.

The best methods to get expansion permits on Hay Day are:
Derby rewards
If your neighborhood performs well during the derby you could receive expansion permits as a reward.
This is not guaranteed as the rewards for derbies are completely random. After playing a few derbies we were however able to obtain a couple of expansion permits.
Mystery Boxes
Expansion permits can be found in various mystery boxes on Hay Day. Again, the rewards found in mystery boxes are completely random but the possibility is there to get expansion permits.
Mystery boxes can be found on your farm, in your town, and on other players farms. Most mystery boxes can be opened for free however some may require the use of diamonds to open.
The Wheel of Fortune
Expansion permits can be found as a reward on the Wheel of Fortune. The rewards on offer are completely random and will change day-to-day.
The wheel will give you a free daily spin to obtain rewards. Players who have obtained the farm pass or players willing to spend diamonds can obtain extra daily spins on the wheel.
Farm Pass
The farm pass can contain expansion permits for both free-to-play players and also players that have purchased the pass.
Expansion permits can be obtained on the farm pass by completing various challenges to move you up the farm road. If you have already unlocked all of the land that requires expansion permits these will not appear in your farm pass rewards.
The Valley
The shop in the Valley contains expansion permits which you can exchange the tokens you have earnt in the Valley.
Tokens can be earnt by completing orders and navigating your way around the map. You can then redeem your tokens in the Valley shop for useful items such as expansion permits.
How to use expansion permits

1. Collect expansion permits
Before you can expand your farm you will need to collect the required amount of expansion permits for the specific area of land you are trying to open up.
You can earn these through a variety of different methods that we have mentioned above.
2. Choose the area of land you want to expand
Once you have obtained enough expansion permits it is time to select the piece of land you would like to expand. Tap on any of the areas of land that have a stoned border, this will show you the amount of expansion permits, mallets, market stakes, and land deeds required to unlock it.
3. Check your resources
The amount of resources required to unlock the land will be displayed in the pop-up box. Make sure you have enough resources to unlock the land before attempting to unlock it.
4. Unlock the land
If you have all of the necessary resources there will be a green check marker next to each item in the pop-up box. Tap the unlock button located in the pop-up and confirm by pressing ‘Yes’.
5. Enjoy your new land
Congratulations, you have now expanded your farm, and it’s time to enjoy your new land. The new land will be available immediately for you to use. You can now place crops, animals, buildings, and decorations on it.
